Membership Drive with New Students & Cyber Awareness Meeting

A meeting was called by our  HOD Prof. Satvik Khara Sir regarding new members joining the IEEE SOCET SB and a little bit about Cyber Security.Our Branch Counselor Ravi Raval Sir  & Ishan Rajani Sir addressed the IEEE Meeting.They briefed us about various events being organized by IEEE branch of different Colleges & Universities.

Newly joined IEEE Members were given an overview of various events been organized under IEEE SOCET SB. The fresh members were heartily welcomed by our ExeComm team. The students were informed about Spectrum Magazine which is been published by IEEE. Students were departed Various benefits of being an IEEE member.

One of the Key benefits of IEEE member is Networking, One’s individual network is enhanced. We can connect globally with the other members of IEEE. IEEE Members from all over the world can communicate with us and a wide range of communication of knowledge can be obtained. WIE – Woman in Engineering is a special branch/Sect which is reserved for girls in IEEE. The IEEE aims at empowering girls & Women.

 

After discussing about IEEE, a detailed discussion on Cyber Awareness was carried out by our HOD Prof. Satvik  Khara  Sir, He addressed the students about the need of cyber awareness.

-> When we Sign in to any website, We either knowingly or unknowingly agree to all the terms & Conditions of that particular website.

 

He also gave an Example of our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi who has been active on Social Media since 2005/06.

We also discussed advantages & Disadvantages of Whatsapp. Nowadays usage of Whatsapp Messenger is very common. And still, people are not matured to handle the Social Media.

 

Freedom of Speech doesn’t mean that people have right to spread abusive language. Rumours are spread very fast by the means of Social media.Thus, Rumour spreading is the biggest disadvantage of social media.

 

Such major issues have created the need for Cyber Security.Our police department has their own Cyber Cell which handles such issues.The Supreme Court has passed Cyber Security law like IT act 2000.Under this law, if any individual or group violates the laws of IT act 2000 then he/she is liable to be punished.
