IEEE SOCET SB INAUGURATION

The IEEE Student Branch of Silver Oak Group of Institutes, Ahmedabad, Gujarat was inaugurated on 15th July 2017. The flagship event graced by Dr. Anu Gokhale (Twenty-five years of university teaching experience, an active volunteer in IEEE R4-Central USA Educational Activities Chair), Dr. Anil Roy ( Senior IEEE Member), Dr. Maniklal Das (Vice Chair, IEEE Gujarat Section), Dr. Anjali Diwan (SAC-Student Activity Chair IEEE Gujarat). This event was felicitated by Mr. Shital Agrawal (Chairman – SOGI), Mrs. Poonam Agrawal (Vice Chairperson – SOGI), Mr. Janak Khandwala (Exe. Director – SOGI), Dr. Shweta Khandwala (Director – SOGI), Dr. Saurin Shah (Principal, SOCET), Dr. Sidhdharth Jadeja (Principal, ASOIT), and Mr. Satvik Khara (HOD CE, SOCET), followed by an expert technical talk by Dr. Manik Lal Das.

IEEE is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community through IEEE’s highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities. IEEE Student Branches are established at various universities and colleges throughout the world. Student Branch activities offer numerous educational, technical, and professional advantages of IEEE membership through special projects, activities, meetings, tours and field trips. 15th July is celebrated as World Youth Skills Day and fortunately, Silver Oak Group of Institutes inaugurated, IEEE SB on the same day. As a part of the inauguration the IEEE Student Branch SOCET had launched its Website and Logo. The launch of hologram logo was so innovative it is immediately recognized by IEEE Gujarat Section and IEEE SOCET SB awarded with the handsome prize money. For applying innovation through technology IEEE Gujarat Section declared 30% discount on IEEE membership from Silver Oak Group of Institutes. The objective of IEEE SB is to bring professional engineers from industry, academics and researchers on a common platform to share new ideas, experiences and knowledge in various fields of Engineering and Technology. Students of Silver Oak Group of institutes will get exposure to compete globally with international students and also help them to build impactful personality. IEEE Student Branch at Silver Oak Group of Institutes will be managed by students of Institute of Engineering and technology. A Student Branch gives students the opportunity to meet and learn from fellow students, as well as faculty members and professionals in the field. An active IEEE Student Branch can build a  strong professional network for industry ready skilled engineering students and increase employability for quality engineers.

From 10:00 AM – 10:30 AM

Welcome Speech was given by anchors of IEEE SOCET SB, Pakshal Shah and Chirayu Desai, to the attendees. Introductory video had been shown to the attendees which gives a brief knowledge about the inauguration program and IEEE activities. This video also showed the vast network of IEEE all around the world and encouraged the attendees to become the part of IEEE family. The technical quiz had been organised to entertain the attendees with some tricky questions related to the field.

FROM 10:30 AM Onwards

The main programme started with the grand entry of dignitaries, Dr. Anu Gokhale (An active volunteer in IEEE R4-Central USA Educational Activities Chair), Dr. Anil Roy (Senior IEEE Member), Dr. Maniklal Das (Vice Chair, IEEE Gujarat Section), Dr. Anjali Diwan (SAC-Student Activity Chair IEEE Gujarat). An Indian traditional welcome had been organized for dignitaries by IEEE SOCET SB members. A fine and peaceful prayer of Ganesha was sung for the prosperous event. Prof. Ishan Rajani gave warm welcome to all the dignitaries and gave descriptive introduction of each dignitary on the dice.

The lightning of the lamp is the first step for a function in Indian culture. IEEE SOCET SB maintained this culture and gave a technical touch to this culture by lightning the lamp with the help of Arduino ( A Smartphone Application ) and bluetooth sensor.

Dr. Saurin Shah, Principal of Silver Oak College of Engineering and Technology, gave a brief speech and appreciated the activities of IEEE SOCET SB by comparing the IEEE SOCET SB with the newborn baby of the family. He was delighted to have IEEE SOCET SB in SOGI campus and wanted to see the IEEE SOCET SB to give their best efforts to maintain the prestige of IEEE and SOCET. He also expressed his desire to have IEEE SOCET SB to be the best IEEE SB in Gujarat Section.

Unveiling of logo and website

The dignitaries unveiled the logo, specially designed for IEEE SOCET SB. It was unveiled in a very innovative manner — it was holographically presented.

As for the website, it was unveiled in it’s own unique manner. The dignitaries were presented with a mobile phone to activate buttons on the website. Once all the buttons were activated, Dr. Anil Roy Sir pressed the final button, which started a countdown, at the end of which the website was unveiled.

Dignitaries Speech

The function was followed by motivational speeches, the speeches which the attendees were eagerly waiting for. Prof. Satvik Khara(Head of CE Dept.) gave a hard end speech about the journey of establishing IEEE SOCET SB at Silver Oak Group of Institutes and handed the platform to the main dignitary.

Dr. Saurin Shah stated that he was very happy and excited with the newborn committee at Silver Oak College of Engineering and Technology. He also showed his support towards IEEE SOCET SB. He stated that IEEE SOCET SB is a branch for students, all events, awareness should be done by the students for the students.   

Dr. Manik Lal Das sir stated in his speech that the motto of IEEE is the advancement of technology. He also appreciated the way IEEE SOCET SB members displayed logo in holographic manner and the lightning of lamp by LED. He showed IEEE SOCET SB  will get support from IEEE GUJARAT SECTION.  

This speech was followed by another dignitaries speech, Dr Anil Roy, he shared the history of IEEE and also frequently asked the technical question to attendees. He also explained the significance of IEEE logo and how it is connected with Right Hand Thumb Rule. He explained that IEEE has more than 2000 international conference annually,  and also that IEEE is leading organization in providing the research and technical papers, journals and magazines. He motivated the young students to join IEEE as the students are the future of IEEE.

After Dr. Anil Roy sir, Dr. Anu Gokhale mam gave introduction about how she joined IEEE while pursuing her masters and completion of her masters project. She also shared her IEEE experience and how she held multiple positions during the years in IEEE. She suggested that the IEEE SOCET SB could participate in various competitions, starting with the student branch website competition. She ended her speech by congratulating IEEE SOCET SB members.

As the programme was coming to an end Dr. Anil Roy sir, announced the very first reward for IEEE SOCET SB, for the innovative logo – an amount of ₹5000, to be used for IEEE SOCET SB activities. Including the prize money  Dr. Anil Roy also gave 30% concession for future IEEE memberships for IEEE SOCET SB.

By this the programme ended with a successful motive and IEEE SB member gave a vote of thanks to the dignitaries and attendees.
