Book Review

 

Introduction:

Reading is a journey that crosses all barriers and takes you to fantastical worlds and different realms. Keeping that essence of the real life, Silver Oak University IEEE Women In Engineering Affinity Group conducted a Book Review to appreciate notes and novels. It included the reviewing of the book ‘The Alchemist’ by Paulo Coelho.

About the Speaker:

To grace the event, we had the presence of Mr. Vivek Adatia, a Lyricist, Storywriter, Poet, Technical Content Writer for an insightful Book Review with the viewpoint of a Book Lover.

The session commenced at 10:45 AM with a gathering of all emphasised and excited young book readers exhilarated for the book review of ‘The Alchemist’ by Paulo Coelho as they were priorly notified to scrutinize the book for an incentive session. Mr. Vivek Adatia was wholeheartedly greeted and welcomed by Dr. Jay Dave Sir with an appealing bouquet as a token of gratitude. Making the session more interactive from the beginning, some accustomed questions were asked like the general point of view of the book along with the main highlighting trait of the book that the participants cherished the most. Answering those general questions, the students showed the utmost attentiveness. Additionally, to discern the participants’ reading and skimming skills, they were divided into a group of four to conduct a group-based activity which includes arranging the traits that helped the main character achieve his goal after comparing and discussing with each other. The participants contemplated their views which were talked through. Accomplishing the group activity, a few questions from everyone’s view was taken on which character they thought helped the main character – ‘The Protagonist’ the most, along with discussing the disparaging conversation of the book. With such exciting activities the book review session was brought to an end by Prof. Digant Parmar sir felicitating Mr. Vivek Adatia with a longhand poem written by a student and a memento as a token of appreciation. Eventually, the session concluded with a joyful atmosphere that encouraged everyone about reading.

Conclusion:

This insightful session surely taught a lot to the participants on the importance and gratification of reading and made an ethical impression of books on everyone’s mind. It was amazing to hear everyone's perspectives on Santiago's (The main character’s) journey and the valuable lessons everyone could acquire from it.
