G.Y.A.N.: Generating Youth Awareness in New technologies

Introduction:

“DISHA” IEEE SIGHT Gujarat Section and Silver Oak University IEEE SIGHT Student Branch Group, organized a comprehensive workshop titled “GYAN: Generating Youth Awareness in New technologies”, on basic computer skills and Cybersecurity awareness at Krishna School of Science, Gandhinagar. This workshop aimed to equip young individuals with essential technical skills and insights into the professional world, fostering their development and readiness for future career opportunities.

The event commenced with a brief introduction to IEEE and IEEE SIGHT, providing attendees with an overview of how they contribute to the advancement of community with aid of technology. It highlighted the key objectives and initiatives undertaken by both the organizations to foster innovation and development. Following this, participants introduced themselves, creating an engaging and lively atmosphere for the session.

The first session was led by Mr. Amman Chopadiya, who covered the basic hardware and software components of computers, explaining how the interface between them works. Attendees gained a comprehensive understanding of the foundational components of computer systems. The session also included a deep dive into services of Microsoft Office with a hands-on demonstration, where participants learned essential functions and features, enhancing their proficiency in using the software and introducing them to essential tools required in various aspects of professional life.

The second session, conducted by Mr. Prashant Chettiyar, dived into basics of Cybersecurity while showcasing various cyber threats like Phishing and prevention measures to be taken under notice for safety. The session also featured live hacking demonstrations on smart televisions and android systems, highlighting the vulnerabilities and security measures associated with these devices. This session provided practical insights into cybersecurity and how the frauds occur in the real world scenarios.

Following the second session, a quiz was held to test the participants' knowledge, adding an interactive and competitive element to the event. The day concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, recognizing the efforts and achievements of the attendees and leaving everyone motivated and inspired, paving the way for future initiatives of similar nature.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, the event was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact on participants, through a well-balanced mix of technical knowledge, practical demonstrations, and interactive sessions. The event showcased the importance of community engagement and technological education. The enthusiasm and active participation of attendees highlighted the transformative power of these initiatives in fostering a collaborative and innovative future for all.
