Edu-Talk: Introduction to Ethical Hacking

During IEEE Education Week, an engaging and inspiring Edu-talk titled "Introduction to Ethical Hacking" was organized by Silver Oak University IEEE Student Branch, delving into the intriguing world of ethical hacking, igniting enthusiasm, and sparking curiosity among participants.

About the speaker:

The session was conducted by Mr. Prashant Chettiyar, Vice-Chairperson at Silver Oak University IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter, Co Founder of Exploit Xplorer and intern at CID Gandhinagar, who gave his insights on cybersecurity ensured an enriching experience for all attendees.

The session kicked off with Mr. Prashant Chettiyar delivering an enlightening introduction to data fundamentals and their practical applications, captivating the attendees with his insights. He delved into topics such as ethical hacking, cybercrime, social engineering, and hacking techniques, offering detailed discourse into these crucial areas.

Mr. Chettiyar then emphasised the profound importance of ethical hacking principles. Utilising his extensive experience, he adeptly led participants through the intricate cybersecurity terrain, providing clear and detailed explanations for each core principle.

Further expanding on hacking demonstrations, the session included a segment on hacking Android TV using IP addresses, illustrated with a real-life example performed live for the audience. This was followed by a demonstration of Wi-Fi jamming, and an exploration of how easily accessible device IP addresses can be exploited, showcasing examples of currently available websites and services. The creation and use of the Rubber Ducky in such exploits were also discussed, adding depth to the practical knowledge shared during the workshop.

He wrapped up the session with a comprehensive live demonstration, reinforcing the lessons learned and the importance of cybersecurity measures. The event concluded with a quiz, which not only tested the participants' newly acquired knowledge but also emphasised the ongoing relevance and necessity of cybersecurity awareness and education.
