AWS CLOUD CLUB STUDENT SYMPOSIA 2023

 

Introduction:

AWS Cloud Club at Silver Oak University in affiliation with Silver Oak University and Silver Oak University IEEE Student Branch held India's First ever "AWS Cloud Club Student Symposia 2023", a remarkable gathering of experts and professionals in the field of AWS (Amazon Web Services). It provided a platform for knowledge exchange and innovative ideas, fostering an environment of learning and growth. The event was graced by a distinguished list of speakers and panelists, which contributed to its success.

 

About the Speaker:

The event featured an impressive lineup of speakers who shared their insights and experiences:

 

1. Mr. Ashish Patel: Enterprise Solutions Architect at AWS.
2. Mr. Dharam Thakkar: Enterprise Solutions Architect at AWS.
3. Mr. Gowrav Vishwakarma: Co-Founder and CTO of Frendy.in, as well as the Founder of Xavoc.com.
4. Mr. Kuntal Shah: Co-Founder of CricHeroes
5. Mr. Miraj Ranpura: Senior Cloud Support Engineer, AWS Containers (Ireland) and an alumnus of Silver Oak University.

The event was honored by the presence of esteemed panelists:

The event commenced with a ceremonial Deep Pragatya and Kulgeet, during which blessings and good wishes were extended to invoke prosperity and triumph for the occasion.

Next, the attendees were formally introduced to Silver Oak University through an enlightening video presentation. Following that, a captivating introduction video showcased the illustrious AWS at Silver Oak University. Subsequently, a video was presented to introduce the esteemed AWS Cloud Club Captains at Silver Oak University.

Dr. Pina Bhatt, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Silver Oak University and Dr. Satvik Khara, Dean of Diploma Engineering at SOU, Head of the Department of Computer Engineering at SOCET, Senior Member in IEEE, Founding Member of Silver Oak University IEEE Student Branch, Chairperson, SIGHT, IEEE Gujarat Section, and Secretary, Computer Society, IEEE Gujarat Section; had the honor of presenting Mr. Nilesh Vaghela with a memento of vibrant admiration, symbolizing the deep respect and regard for his contributions. Dr. M. N. Patel graced the stage to share his invaluable insights, providing a guiding moment for all those in attendance. Following this, distinguished speakers and panelists were formally introduced to the audience, setting the stage for a profound and enriching experience.

 

Session 1:

 

Mr. Ashish Patel initiated the first session of the day, guiding the audience through his role in AWS. He initiated his presentation by recounting his personal journey and imparting wisdom on the evolution of technology from 2010 to the present day. He proceeded to discuss the importance of self-confidence, attributing his success to this trait. He shared his challenges in university due to language barriers, having come from a Gujarati medium school. Mr. Patel emphasized the significance of a growth mindset in overcoming obstacles.

He engaged the audience with insights into Amazon's journey, highlighting both success stories and failures, such as Amazon's humble beginnings as a bookstore, the Firephone failure, and the success of AWS. He introduced Amazon IDE, AWS Cloud Development Kit, and AWS App Runner Kit. Additionally, he introduced Amazon Code Whisper, a recent launch. Mr. Patel concluded the session by addressing questions from the attendees.

Following the enlightening session delivered by Mr. Ashish Patel, Mr. Janak Khandwala, Vice-President of Silver Oak University; presented a memento, a letter of appreciation, and a substantial gift to the distinguished speaker.

 

Session 2:

 

The next speaker, Mr. Dharam Thakkar, took the stage to share his insights on LLM and Generative AI. He began with a light-hearted question, inquiring if attendees had used Chat GPT for writing assignments, to their unanimous affirmation. This introduction set the stage for his explanation of LLM (Large Language Models) and AI. Mr. Thakkar elaborated on various aspects of LLM, including Word Embedding, Word2Vec, and NLP, using graphical representations for clarity. He also discussed the influential research paper "Attention Is All You Need," highlighting the importance of its algorithms for encoders and decoders in generative outputs.

Delving deeper into generative outputs, he elucidated the significance of Tokenizers, Detokenizes, and Language Chains while also Elaborating the audience to Amazon Bedrock, a Generative AI solution. He interacted with the audience and addressed their questions.

Dr. M.N. Patel, Advisor of Silver Oak University, and Ex- Vice Chancellor of Gujarat University, Gujarat Technological University and Parul University; extended a token of recognition with a letter of appreciation and substantial gift to Mr. Dharam Thakkar to acknowledge his presentation.

 

Session 3:

 

In the third session, Mr. Gowrav Vishwakarma, an esteemed speaker with 24 years of experience in the field, shared his expertise in tech scaling. He initiated his talk by distinguishing between techies, coders, and developers and provided insights into the beginnings of his company. Mr. Vishwakarma focused on the topic of "Infrastructure of AWS" and discussed shared and managed hosting and core infrastructure components.

He explored the concept of experiencing failures and went on to elaborate the AWS Management Layer, SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, and FaaS. Motivating the audience, he advised new students in the cloud journey to focus on Amazon Lambda, ES2, and ES3. The session concluded with a Q&A session where Mr. Vishwakarma addressed questions from the audience.

Dr. Saurin Shah, Vice Chancellor of Silver Oak University; did the distinct honor of extending an invitation to present a token of appreciation, a heartfelt letter of commendation, and substantial gift to Mr. Gowrav Vishwakarma.

 

Quiz Round:

 

An engaging quiz round was announced, designed to keep participants on the edge of their seats. This thrilling round comprised 10 questions, with the first 7 being answered by all attendees. The remaining 3 questions were reserved for the top participants on the leaderboard, who were subsequently invited to the stage to provide their answers. The quiz winners were duly recognized and rewarded with amazon vouchers of cash prizes.

 

Session 4:

 

The next presentation was delivered by Mr. Kuntal Shah, who was warmly welcomed with enthusiasm. He initiated the session by highlighting the significance of AWS, entrepreneurship, and startup support. The speaker aimed to ignite inspiration within the audience with the topic of "Why AWS?". He delved into the importance of AWS, its applications in the cloud, and the demand for AWS skills in the broader world.

Mr. Shah also discussed his own company, "CricHeroes". He elaborated on the cloud infrastructure of his company, introducing the concept of AWS Infrastructure. He explained the role of the AWS application load balancer and how RDS managed backups and facilitated timely recovery.

To infuse the entrepreneurial spirit, he shared his startup journey, which commenced in 2016. Mr. Shah revealed that he had received a great amount of credits from AWS as a supportive gesture. The informative session concluded with the speaker addressing queries from the audience.

Dr. Satvik Khara, Dean of Diploma Engineering, SOU; Head of the Department, Computer Engineering, SOCET; Senior Member IEEE; Chairperson, SIGHT, IEEE Gujarat Section; Secretary, Computer Society, IEEE Gujarat Section; and Founding Member of Silver Oak University IEEE Student Branch; presented Mr. Kuntal Shah with a memento, a letter of appreciation, and substantial gifts as tokens of our gratitude and recognition.

 

Session 5:

 

The session commenced with esteemed speaker, Mr. Miraj Ranpura, joining virtually to interact with participants. As a former student at Silver Oak University, Mr. Ranpura began by sharing Snapshots from his college days and recounted stories from his time.

To kick-start his session on AWS, he shared the pivotal event in his life, the "AWS Summit 2012." Engaging the audience, he discussed global job market challenges and the astonishing fact that 4.15 million worth of cloud jobs remain unfilled globally. He introduced innovations in cloud technology and the AWS Ramp up Guide.

To stir enthusiasm among enthusiasts, he provided insights into the 80+ AI/ML courses available on the AWS website, designed by experts. Real-world examples of AWS usage, such as Netflix and AngryBirds, were shared, highlighting AWS's role as a backend service.

Towards the session's conclusion, Mr. Ranpura explained Amazon Leadership principles and fielded questions from the participants. In recognition of his immense contribution to the event, he was presented with a virtual memento.

 

Panel Discussion:

 

The panel discussion, introduced by host Mr. Poojan Jain, AWS Cloud Captain at AWS Cloud Club at Silver Oak University, featured panelists Mr. Nilesh Vaghela, Mr. Ravi Jain, Mr. Krutarth Rindani, Mr. Ashay Doshi, Ms. Asha Mangtani, and Ms. Priyal Jadav. The panelists addressed questions on diverse topics, including emerging technologies, startups, cyber threats, and networking.

As an expression of appreciation for their active involvement, the panelists were presented with tokens of gratitude, along with a formal letter of appreciation, and substantial presents; graciously bestowed by Dr. Satvik Khara.
