The Oracle Cloud Day - Ahmedabad event was organized by Silver Oak University IEEE Student Branch, in collaboration with All India Oracle Users Group. The event aimed to delve deeper into the world of Oracle, featuring live demonstrations and expert insights. Participants deepened their understanding on industry best practices, including database migration strategies, Cloud Data Lakehouse construction with an autonomous database, and Oracle Apex for application development.

The Oracle Cloud Day - Ahmedabad commenced with an insightful introduction by Mr. Saumil Patel, emphasizing the significance of Oracle Cloud and its transformative potential in driving digital innovation. He gave brief information about how Oracle has been working since decades and still serving all over India. He also outlined the advantages of being part of AIOUG, such as interacting with Oracle experts to learn about market trends, networking with technical professionals, accessing career growth opportunities through sessions, and bringing back enhanced knowledge to the technical realm.

Continuing the event, Mr. Anil Kantrodia directed the discussion towards the migration of databases to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). He emphasized the importance of a structured approach to migration planning and highlighted three key factors: OCI's foundational base database service, Exadata Database Services, and Oracle's Autonomous Database capabilities.

During his presentation, he also explained important terminologies such as virtual machine and hypervisor, touching upon the significance of Data Guard in the migration process. This session provided valuable insights into the benefits of migrating databases to OCI, culminating with a live demo video showcasing the migration process in action.

As the session ended, the dignitaries present extended their appreciation and admiration to the key contributors. Dr. Satvik Khara commended Mr. Saumil Patel and Mr. Hitesh Gondalia for their unwavering commitment to empowering students with Oracle expertise, presenting them with a symbol of admiration. Following suit, Prof. Digant Parmar and Prof. Parimal Patel expressed their gratitude with a token of appreciation to Mr. Anil Kantrodia and Mr. Kamal Panjabi for their significant contributions to the event. Track 1:

Mr. Hitesh Gondalia led the session with a dynamic overview of the evolution in data management, covering the progression from Data Warehousing to Data Lakes and culminating in the emerging Lakehouse model. Emphasizing the benefits of the Lakehouse approach, such as reduced redundancy and streamlined pipelines, he showcased its effectiveness as a modern data platform.

Exploring Data Platform Opportunities, the session delved into the integration of AI and Cloud on Premises, with a specific focus on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's (OCI) capacity to unlock maximum data value. Additionally, Mr. Gondalia highlighted Oracle's unique functionalities and its active engagement in Open-Source Projects, underscoring the distinct advantages of leveraging OCI for robust data management solutions. The session provided attendees with a comprehensive understanding of modern data platforms and Oracle's role in driving innovation within the industry.

Track 2:

Session 1:

The session commenced with Mr. Kamal Punjabi, a renowned authority on database security within the Oracle ecosystem, taking the lead. Offering a comprehensive overview, he delved into essential security measures and best practices for securing Oracle databases in the cloud. The session emphasized the critical need for robust security measures to safeguard sensitive data and ensure regulatory compliance. Mr. Punjabi further elaborated on common reasons for Data Breaches, discussed the issue of Security Configuration Drift, and highlighted the importance of Data Security Assessment in maintaining database integrity. Towards the conclusion, attendees were provided with a detailed demonstration within the Oracle Cloud console, where Mr. Punjabi explained and showcased the functionalities of Oracle Data Safe, offering a practical understanding of effective database security practices.

Session 2:

The final session of the day was led by Mr. Digant Ramani, an expert in Oracle Application Express (APEX). Providing attendees with invaluable insights into Oracle APEX, a low code development platform enabling rapid creation of web applications, the session highlighted its remarkable benefits. Notably, Mr. Ramani delved into the concepts of Low Code/No Code (LCNC) development and the architecture of APEX, elucidating its innovative approach to application development.

Attendees were guided through the ease of learning, reduced code requirements, accelerated time to market, minimal costs, and enhanced talent retention that come with leveraging APEX. Moreover, the session included live demonstrations of creating applications in APEX, showcasing its capabilities in real time. Mr. Ramani's detailed insights and practical examples empowered participants to harness the full potential of this powerful tool for their application development needs.
