PARAM Shavak: ML Unleashed

Introduction:

ML Geeks Club established under the aegis of Silver Oak University IEEE Student Branch, in collaboration with Department of Computer Engineering, SOCET, hosted an exceptional event titled "PARAM Shavak: ML Unleashed". This informative session delved into two critical areas: ML model optimization and Responsible AI practices.

About the speaker:

This workshop was conducted by the esteemed ML Geeks Club Leads:

1. Mr. Abhay Pisharodi, Advisory Student Board Member and 8th -semester Computer Engineering student specializing in ML/AI.

2. Mr. Divyesh Patel, Advisory Student Board Member and 8th -semester Computer Engineering student specializing in ML/AI.

3. Mr. Rushi Prajapati, Advisory Student Board Member and 8th -semester Computer Engineering student specializing in ML/AI.

About the session:

Date: 23rd March, 2024
Time: 01:30 PM - 04:00 PM
Venue: EA-803, Silver Oak University
Participants: 20

The session began with a palpable wave of enthusiasm as Mr. Divyesh Patel skillfully navigated the topic of ML model optimization, bridging any gaps in knowledge, while Mr. Rushi Prajapati drew parallels between the neural networks of the human brain and those used in machine learning, enhancing attendees' understanding. Throughout the session, participants engaged in discussions on perceptrons, multi-layer perceptrons (MLPs), and the intricate prediction processes within MLPs. The dynamic and energetic presentation style of the speakers captivated the audience, sparking a collective eagerness to explore the complexities of ML model optimization further.

Continuing on this dynamic journey, Mr. Abhay Pisharodi took the stage, injecting humor into the proceedings while delving into Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and their crucial role in computer vision applications. With clarity, Mr. Pisharodi explained how CNNs leverage convolutional layers and filters to extract meaningful patterns and features from data.

He introduced and elaborated on key terms such as convolutional layers, filters/kernels, strides, padding, pooling layers, receptive fields, activation functions, fully connected layers (FC layers), feature maps, backpropagation, epochs, dropout, and batch normalization. Furthermore, he meticulously traced the evolutionary path of CNNs from seminal works like LeNet-5 (1998) to groundbreaking advancements such as ResNet (2015).

The informative discussions by all the speakers not only deepened attendees' understanding but also fostered a profound appreciation for the continuous evolution of CNNs, encouraging a positive outlook towards further exploration and development in the emerging field.

Conclusion:
